WHAT SIGNING THE PLEDGE MEANS
When people sign the pledge, they are not saying they have not been civil in the past. They're simply expressing their intention and their aspiration to be civil, while at the same time recognizing that we are all human!
When people sign the pledge, they're expressing their intention and their aspiration. The core principles of the "Speak Your Peace" campaign really resonate with the standards and expectations of an enlightened and engaged society.
Today and every day I aspire to practice the following skills:

Understand Other Points of View
Welcome All; Don't Exclude Anyone
Remind Others of the Importance of this Practice
Honor Others (Especially in Disagreement)
Find Opportunities to Agree
Repair Damaged Relationships
Give Constructive Comments, Suggestions & Feedback
